Being an international student in a college in North America can have its pros and cons, could be great as well as a living hell. You will have to adapt to a new environment and learn the laws of the society and adapt to their culture. Make sure you already have a phone and a social account like facebook. When you get there talk to as many people you can, the first days everyone is excited and will literally talk to anyone. Get the contacts of everyone you felt where interesting and make sure you give them calls from time to time to ask them to hang out. Doing this from every event will guarantee you having about 5 to 10 friends by the end of the first week. Remember most of the friends you make the first week remain your friends till you graduate.
Also if your a freshman, make sure your in a dorm room. Nothing easier than making friends from people in your dorm. Keep your dorm room open, it ensures people will pop by to say hi. It also shows that your warm with people. Take advantage of the international student office. Sometimes the people there are very warm and will help you meet others. Its also an avenue to meet other international students who like you want to make friends. With these little tricks you are sure to have a great time in college.

For those who are freshman in college, well school is just starting and many of you are excited. So what’s next. Class will probably start in a week’s time and you will now be going through all the welcome parties offered by school and students, meeting a lot of students, visiting and much more. So what should you do now that school is in.
First of all make sure of have signed up for all your classes and know what the classes are. Also get the textbooks way ahead the class starts. To save cost buy the book on classified sites such as craiglist or announceschool. How to make Big Colleges feel small
Around the country, most of the big colleges like ASU, Ohio State, Florida State with over 40000 students on a single campus feel amazingly huge. You see so many people walking around that you see for the first time and probably won't ever see again. You are surrounded by so many people who just seem to walk around like busy, going somewhere or chatting in groups. You then tell yourself why is this place so big, I feel like a no one. To bridge the gap, you try to be friends with everyone you can come across, you try to join every club possible. But even after that, you still think the school campus is still super huge. So the questions comes up, how to make your school community appear small. What is the use of kiosks in the School community
For most of us in college or those who are in High school and we know those large Noticeboards in the school corridor full of notices. Every time we take a peek at them we see so many things displayed on them such as looking for a tutor or paid surveys as well as common school news like join a certain club. At times it gets dizzy to peak at all the ads posted on their altogether as most of the times it appears as a mess.
Walking around campus, you will easily realize that most of these kiosks filled up with all these ads are never looked at, especially by the college kids. They just walk pass it, before you see someone looking at it, you must be on a lucky date. Even those who take a peek at the ads always take a glance of probably 5 seconds not giving the time to look at the ads on the kiosks.
This just gives the impression that kiosks are easily becoming useless to the school students for posting up events, ads, services or things for sale. Those who post up their ads waste money to post it and those ads never get looked at and are soon torn down or someone directly post something over your ad.
Recently, an ASU student created a website called AnnounceSchool, to attempt to solve this problem.
